We are hiring a IT Documentation Writer for European Commission in Brussels and various locations around Europe.
Main Responsibilities
- Draft, update, and maintain IT documentation for internal networks, including system architecture, configurations, security policies, and operational procedures.
- Ensure clarity, accuracy, and completeness of documentation to support IT administrators and security personnel.
- Maintain consistency in formatting and terminology across all documentation.
- Document IT systems based on Windows and Linux architectures, ensuring compliance with security and operational standards.
- Provide documentation for both online and standalone systems, some of which may be classified and require adherence to strict security protocols.
- Ensure documentation follows European Commission security standards and aligns with best practices for classified IT systems.
- Support audits and security assessments by providing clear and structured documentation.
- Apply PM² (Project Management Methodology) and PILAR (risk assessment and security methodology) as a basis for structuring documentation.
- Use appropriate tools and templates to ensure consistency and compliance with internal policies.
- Work closely with IT teams, security experts, and project managers to gather technical information.
- Participate in meetings and reviews to ensure documentation reflects the latest system configurations and security measures.
Successful Candidate
LEVEL OF EDUCATION
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in technical writing for IT systems, networks, or cybersecurity.
- Demonstrated experience in documenting Windows and Linux-based IT systems, including security policies and system architecture.
- Familiarity with classified or restricted IT environments is a strong asset.
- Experience with IT security standards, compliance requirements, and risk assessment methodologies.
- Knowledge of PM² project management methodology and PILAR risk assessment framework is highly desirable.
- Prior experience in a public sector, governmental, or EU institution environment is an advantage.
TECHNICAL EXPERTISE
- Proven expertise writing documentation for IT Systems in the European Commission.
- Proficiency in technical documentation tools.
- Understanding of network security, system administration, and IT governance frameworks.
- Ability to interpret technical concepts and translate them into clear, structured documentation.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to work with classified materials.
- Fluency in English (knowledge of additional EU languages is an asset).
CERTIFICATIONS
- PM2 and/or Pilar certification.
