IS Application Architect (1939, M2)

For the EU Commission in Brussels we are looking for an Application Architect with at least 3 years of relevant work experience. 

Role Responsibility

Position 1: Work Programme Applications development

We look for an Application Architect, with experience in the design and development of multi-tier Javabased web applications. In addition to the knowledge and skills implied by the profile, he/she will have an in-depth working knowledge of: 1) at least one modern front-end framework (preferably Angular); 2) of the

Java Persistence API (JPA); 3) of the Spring Framework. The candidate will need to have working experience in JEE and micro-service architectures. Working experience on data modelling and physical database design will be an advantage.

Position 2: Work Programme Applications development – Project Manager

We look for a Project Manager, with proven software development team leading experience and a sound technical background regarding the technologies and methodologies in use. The candidate will also be at ease in managing projects and knowledge using software development oriented tools (e.g. Jira, Confluence …) and customizing the project management methodologies based on the actual scenarios. Knowledge of the PM2 or OpenPM2 methodologies will be an asset. Previous knowledge of the European Commission will be an additional asset.

Position 3: Work Programme and Knowledge Management Applications – Business Analysis.

We look for a Business Analyst, with experience in the business process modelling area and related tools.

The candidate will be able to capture user needs and business concepts using mainstream methodologies (e.g. Agile, RUP, UML …). He/she should have knowledge of usability and User Interface design, very good command of English (written and oral), the ability of analysing, organising and presenting data. The candidate should be able to draft "Request for Change" documents for the development team to implement and describe related acceptance criteria and test plans. Capability of integration in an international / multi-cultural environment will be an asset.

Position 4: Work Programme Applications develop

We look for a JEE Technology Expert, with experience in the design and development of multi-tier Javabased web applications applying lean and agile methodologies (e.g. Kanban). In addition to the knowledge and skills implied by the profile, he/she will have an in-depth working knowledge of: 1) at least one modern front-end framework (preferably Angular); 2) of the Java Persistence API (JPA); 3) of the Spring Framework. Experience in JEE and/or micro-service architectures will be considered an asset. Working experience on data modelling and physical database design will be an advantage.

Position 5: Knowledge Management Applications Development

We look for an Application Architect, with experience in the design and development of multi-tier Javabased web applications. In addition to the knowledge and skills implied by the profile, he/she will have an in-depth working knowledge of: 1) at least one modern front-end framework (preferably Angular); 2) of the Java Persistence API (JPA); 3) of the Spring Framework. The candidate will need to have working experience in JEE and micro-service architectures. Working experience on data modelling and physical database design will be an advantage.

Position 6: Work Programme and Knowledge Management Applications – Quality Assurance

We look for a Quality Assurance Manager, with experience in designing, maintaining and executing tests of multi-tier Java-based web applications. In addition to the knowledge and skills implied by the profile, he/she will have working knowledge of our current technical stack and previous experience in JEE software development and testing will be an asset. The candidate should have a good command of English (written and oral) and the ability of analysing, organising and presenting data. The candidate should be able to draft "Request for Change" documents for the development team to implement and describe related acceptance criteria and test plans. Working experience on data modelling and physical database design will be an advantage.

Position 7: Knowledge Management Applications development

We look for a Technology Expert, with experience in the design and development of web applications using bleeding-edge front-end frameworks coupled with Java-based back-ends. In addition to the knowledge and skills implied by the profile, he/she will have an in-depth working knowledge of: 1) at least one modern JavaScript front-end framework in addition to Angular; 2) of the Java Persistence API (JPA); 3) of the Spring Framework. Proven knowledge of the PHP language is also required. Experience in JEE and/or micro-service architectures will be considered an asset.

Position 8: Work Programme Applications development

We look for an Application Developer, with experience in the development of multi-tier Java-based web applications. In addition to the knowledge and skills implied by the profile, he/she will have an in-depth working knowledge of: 1) at least one modern front-end framework (preferably Angular); 2) of the Java Persistence API (JPA); 3) of the Spring Framework. The candidate will need to have working experience in JEE and micro-service architectures. Working experience on data modelling and physical database design will be an advantage.

Position 9: SharePoint

We look for a Technology Expert, with experience related to: SharePoint 2010 and/or MOSS 2007, knowledge of MS Office desktop application integration with SharePoint and familiarity with SharePoint Central Administration and configuration of SharePoint web parts. The following experiences and knowledge will also be an asset: Tier I or II helpdesk style support experience, Basic .Net Framework development, basic SharePoint Server and MS SQL Server administration, SharePoint Designer knowledge and XSLT/CAML knowledge.

Position 10: IP Manager

We look for a Technology Expert, with experience in the design and development of multi-tier Java-based web applications with Angular front-ends.In addition to the knowledge and skills implied by the profile, he/she will have an in-depth working knowledge of: 1) the Angular front-end framework and its eco-system;

2) of the Java Persistence API (JPA); 3) of the Spring Framework; 4) of a nosql search engine (e.g. ElasticSearch). The candidate will need to have working experience in JEE and micro-service architectures.

Position 11: IP Manager

We look for a Technology Expert, with experience in the design and development of multi-tier Java-based web applications with Angular front-ends. In addition to the knowledge and skills implied by the profile, he/she will have an in-depth working knowledge of: 1) the Angular front-end framework and its eco-system;

2) of the Java Persistence API (JPA); 3) of the Spring Framework; 4) of a nosql search engine (e.g. ElasticSearch). The candidate will need to have working experience in JEE and micro-service architectures.

Position 12: Knowledge Management Applications development

Please note the following for all positions under Work Programme and Knowledge Management:

  • Working language is English, but being the team is located in Ispra, Italian would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of modern software development basic practices and tools is required.
  • Knowledge of modern software development lifecycle is required.
  • Where not specified, knowledge of the following will constitute an asset:
  • JEE and the Spring Framework
  • Java Persistence Architecture and REST
  • Structured Query Language and Relational Databases (Oracle being our standard).
