Ground System Engineer

We currently proactively looking for aGround System Engineer, based in ESTEC, Noordwijk (Netherlands).

Role Responsibility

Specific Tasks

• Coordinating the definition of the Ground Segment Concept within the project team and in collaboration with teams in ESOC and ESRIN. 

• Preparing and maintaining the requirements for the Specific Aspects of the Flight Operations Segment (FOS, implementation delegated to ESOC) and Payload Data Ground Segment (PDGS, implementation delegated to ESRIN).

• Contributing to the definition of the Spacecraft to Ground Segment Interfaces and monitoring in collaboration with the Spacecraft and AIT manager proper implementation and verification of those Interfaces.

• Monitoring the implementation of the FOS and PDGS, and insuring compatibility between the Spacecraft and the Ground Segment Elements.

• Support Project Reviews at Satellite, GS and System levels.

• Preparing and executing ground system validation activities, including interfaces to the spacecraft in collaboration with the Spacecraft and AIT manager while on ground.

• Participating to the preparation and execution of the in-orbit system validation, under the responsibility of the Commissioning Phase Manager; responsible for the ground system activities during this phase. 

Other tasks (priority is nominated Project, other support to be agreed with that Project Manager):

• Participate to EOP ground segment reviews on other projects. 

Successful Candidate

Specific Competence Requirements:

• Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team within the boundaries of assigned tasks and a stringent schedule.

• Experience relevant to the task description.

• Proficient in the English language (spoken and written).
