Europe Enterprise Architect

We’re looking for an Europe Enterprise Architect / IT Cluster Lead - France, to reinforce our european team in our Brussels office!

The Enterprise Architect / IT Cluster Lead develops and maintains a future vision and roadmap for their aligned business unit and designated areas of functional competence, and develops and/or governs solutions to ensure they will deliver the roadmap.

You will work closely with Senior Serco business representatives and IT leadership to understand the needs of the business and to place the enterprise architecture in the areas of their responsibility within the context of the overall IT strategy and architecture for the UK&E division and Serco globally.

You must understand not just the IT needs of the business but also the overall impact of proposed roadmaps and solutions to the profitability of the business or bid.

The role is positioned UK and Europe Digital and Technology Services and reports to the Technology Director for UK and Europe. In the execution of the role you will have significant interaction with colleagues in the UK&E and MyTechnology Think, Build and Run teams, in particular:

  • Other Enterprise Architects in the development and governance of the overall Enterprise Architecture.
  • Solution Architects in the development of solutions for bids and other projects.
  • BU Delivery Partners to understand the pipeline of bids and projects, as well as those in delivery.
  • BU Service Partners to understand lessons learned from deployed solutions.

You will be expected to manage their own work (and that of others where appropriate) within agreed frameworks, drawing on support from other members of the IT Team where appropriate.

Role Responsibility

As Europe Enterprise Architect you will be responsible for:

  • Develop and maintain a technology and service roadmap for the areas of responsibility, working with Business Stakeholders and other Enterprise Architects to ensure this is maintained, current and meets future capability needs.
  • Liaise with business development teams and operational teams to understand the needs of their aligned business areas and designated functional areas.
  • Liaise with other IT professionals (e.g. IT Senior/Solution Architects, Standard Service Technical Leads) to design and govern solution architectures for business unit operations and bids.
  • Ensure compliance to solution architectural design in the implementation of projects.
  • Provide architectural guidance and Leadership to the IT Senior/Solution Architects and Technical Delivery team to ensure delivery is in line with the sector roadmap designs.
  • Provide Delivery execution guidance to the delivery team, supporting the design governance of the workstream breakdown.
  • Render consulting and technical support services on project implementation to the IT Senior/Solution Architects and Technical Delivery team
  • Explain technical issues and IT solution strategies to Business Unit stakeholders and other IT professionals as required in support of solutions.
  • Ensure that solution designs are in sync and aligned with business needs and support Sector Roadmaps
  • Review the proposal of vendors and suppliers to ensure that quality inputs are deliverable, aligned to Sector Roadmaps and compliant with Enterprise Architecture standards.
  • Monitor the activities of external teams on IT workstream projects
  • Identify and mitigate existing business risk or risks associated with solution architecture.

As IT Cluster Lead you will be responsible for France and there will be needed to work with the MyTech team across the Division also to ensure continuous improvement and alignment.

This role will dually report into the UK&E IT/MyTech team, along with the EU Digital Transformation Director. You will then be accountable for :

  • Customer Satisfaction of the Cluster Business
  • The escalation and monitoring of open tickets
  • The maintenance, re-ordering, and stock of equipment
  • Ordering of equipment
  • Ad-hoc tasks e.g., configurations of meeting room technology
  • Office moves and adaptations to IT
  • Testing of new processes and ways of working
  • Manage Local IT Suppliers

Successful Candidate

Essential technical and professional skills, knowledge and qualifications

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree especially in IT related discipline is expected but not mandatory. A thorough understanding of modern IT Infrastructure, applications and Cloud based technologies is very important.
  • Problem solving skills: They must be good at thinking up innovative ideas and solutions to problems. They must be an analytical thinker and logical in approaching issues
  • Communication: The Enterprise Architect must possess effective communication skills that enables them to convey complex technical details to clients in a straightforward manner
  • Flexible and innovative: Must be innovative and should be up-to-date with current technologies. He/she must be able to identify technical issues and be able to design solutions to fix them. Most importantly, they should be flexible in making plans and program decisions.
  • Ability to build from good relationships with clients/operational managers and colleagues
  • Ability to gather and assimilate information
  • Good knowledge of quality standards, legislation and best practice
  • Ability to be adapt and prioritise
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Ability to think ahead and anticipate problems, issues and solutions
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Architecture frameworks and best practices
