We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Database/Application administrator, based in Italy.

Role Responsibility

Nature of tasks

In addition to the tasks described for the profile in Service Requirements document for

the framework contract, the selected person will need to be able to support both daily

operations for relevant services and contribute to the execution of new projects.

Main activities will be:

· Application Server Administration (installation, configuration, monitor, manage,

upgrade, deploy applications, backup & recovery, failover and tuning).

· Manage users and their security privileges in line with JRC policies.

· Monitor the availability of Application Server infrastructure; measure their

resource utilisation; identify bottlenecks; diagnose faults; and monitor the

performance/throughput of AS facilities.

· Production of technical documentation.

Successful Candidate

Knowledge and skills

The following personal skills are required:

· Good communications skills in English and good knowledge of Italian

· Willing to work in a busy team where learning new skills is essential

· Professional attitude and service-oriented attitude

· Availability to work outside working hours and to be part of an on-call schema

· Capacity to share the knowledge with the other members of the team

· Ability to work both in service mode for delivery of daily operations and in

project mode for the introduction of new service elements

Very good experience in the following fields is required:

· Administration of Tomcat

· Administration of Apache

· Administration of MySQL or PostgreSQL DB

The following practical experience is desirable:

· Administration of NoSQL DB

· Administration of Monitoring Tool ( PRTG)

· Administration of Analytics Tool (PIWIK)

· ITIL service management framework
