Copernicus System Engineer

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a System IVV Engineer, based in  Frascati (Rome,Italy).

Role Responsibility

The job holder will be part of the Serco Copernicus Maintenance Team. 
The primary task is to support the improvement of the development and test phases. This may cover all areas of the system engineering, such as:

  • Design and implement automated functional and performance tests on the basis of defined test designs
  • Design and implement automatic unit test pipelines with the support of the development team
  • Review and update technical documentation to streamline the information flow from Development to Operations
  • analyse and optimize the configurations of COTS present in the operational environment to improve the quality of Service
  • Build and maintain tools for deployment, monitoring and operations
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in our dev, test and production environments
  • On-call service is foreseen, availability to perform it is an asset.

Successful Candidate

The right candidate will bring:

● Capability of writing technical documentation as ICD, SDD, SVS

● Good programming skills with Python, Java, shell script, etc.

● Proven Experience with building software service automation pipeline.

● Familiar with service build, deploy, and release process

● Strong knowldge of Linux/Unix shell scripting
● Knowledge of Network management
● Experience with some of the following cloud platforms such as OVH, AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, etc.
● Proven Experience with some following technologies: Jenkins, relational and non-relational databases is an asset
● Strong communication skills and team player approach
● Fluent in English written and spoken

● A Master's degree or equivalent qualification in science or engineering is required
● Knowledge of ESA ECSS standard and System engineering processes (e.g. INCOSE guidelines)

●Knowledge of ESA EO missions and Copernicus programme is an asset

● Ability to work autonomously and in dynamic/international team
● Public speaking skills and ability to expose topics in public
