We are seeking a Configuration and Data Management Expert to work on our Customers Site (ESA-ESTEC) in the Netherlands. This is a fantastic opportunity to get into one of the most sought-after space agencies in the world. 

The overall goal of the service is to provide project management support services for CSC Programmes and Projects, covering all activities linked to schedule and risk management, project administration support and configuration and data management. The service shall assist the CSC teams in improving operational harmonisation, efficiency and effectiveness through the continuous review, update and implementation of project management processes, procedures, best practices and tools.

For configuration and data management activities, the service shall support setting-up the procedures, expanding the overall knowledge, enforcing a culture of best practices in the CSC directorate for Configuration Control and Documentation / Data management, ensuring compliance to security, export control and personal data protection requirements. Configuration control will work closely with the documentalist service (already in place).

Main Responsibilities

As Configuration and Data Management Expert you will concentrate your activities on the following:

Configuration and Data Management:

  • Coordinate overall configuration and data management processes, ensuring consistency and effective use of project information.
  • Manage and monitor the setup, implementation and ongoing updates of data repositories and access control systems.
  • Ensure that project information is correctly created, stored, reviewed and archived.
  • Implement security measures, manage user access rights and conduct quarterly reviews.

Process & Procedure Development:

  • Develop, maintain, and update CADM plans, processes and templates.
  • Standardize and harmonize processes across projects, ensuring that procedures are tailored to specific project needs.
  • Provide expert support for implementing configuration management and data management processes.

Stakeholder Coordination & Interface:

  • Serve as the primary contact for internal teams and external partners, facilitating communication and collaboration.
  • Ensure adherence to configuration and data management requirements in project reviews and during procurement activities.
  • Manage interactions with industrial consortia for receiving and controlling data packs.

Support to Reviews and Audits:

  • Support logistics and coordination for project reviews, including preparation of review materials and action item tracking.
  • Participate in technical reviews, raising issues and following up on actions.
  • Prepare reports and presentations summarizing review findings and recommendations.

Tool Implementation & Optimization:

  • Assist in defining, testing, and implementing CADM tools and systems.
  • Contribute to process automation and the introduction of new methodologies like MBSE (Model-Based Systems Engineering).
  • Create and maintain user guides, training materials and support for tool usage.

Training & Knowledge Sharing:

  • Provide expert training to teams on CADM processes and tools.
  • Capture knowledge and lessons learned, contributing to best practices in CADM.
  • Facilitate the development and delivery of training related to documentation security, export control and data protection.

Successful Candidate

Do you think you are the person we are looking for? See below what experience or knowledge you should bring:

  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • At least 4 years of experience in Configuration & Data Management.
  • Experience in coordinating configuration and data management processes, ensuring consistency in project information, managing documentation and working with tools like Polaris, SharePoint and MS Teams.
  • Expertise in defining, implementing, and maintaining CADM plans, processes and procedures, with an emphasis on standardization and process optimization across projects.
  • Knowledgeable in ensuring the security, accessibility and compliance of project data, working closely with project teams, ISO and security officers.
  • Skilled in liaising with internal teams and external partners, facilitating smooth communication and access to project data and ensuring compliance with security, export control and personal data protection regulations.
  • Proficient in supporting review processes, including coordination, action item tracking and follow-up. 
  • Experienced in preparing reports and presentations to summarize review findings and recommendations.
  • Able to provide expert training on CADM tools and processes and support in the development of new methodologies, techniques and tools to improve CADM efficiency.
  • Expertise in defining requirements, testing and implementing new CADM tools and systems to enhance project management and documentation handling.
  • Skilled in supporting major procurements, configuration control processes, change management and documentation tracking for project teams.
  • Proficient in the English language, both written and spoken.
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the EU.
