We are currently seeking an experienced and dynamic Cloud DevOps Engineer to join our Italian Office in Rome. Join a ground-breaking European project at the forefront of satellite technology and climate research.

Main Responsibilities

As Cloud DevOps Engineer you will be responsible for:

  • Cloud Infrastructure Management: Deploy, configure, and manage cloud infrastructure components on different layers and optimize infrastructure for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency:
     - IaaS: such as virtual machines, storage and networking
     - CaaS: Docker, Kubernetes 
     - PaaS/SaaS: DBs, Identity services
  • Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD): Support the Implementation of CI/CD pipelines for automating software delivery and deployment processes. Configure build, test, and deploy using tools like GitLab CI/CD, Helm and Rancher.
  • Monitoring: Monitor the health, performance, and availability of cloud infrastructure and applications. Use tools like Prometheus, Elastic stack for monitoring and alerting.
  • Security and Compliance: Follow security best practices and compliance controls to protect cloud infrastructure and data.
  • Performance Optimization: Support in identifying performance bottlenecks and optimizing cloud infrastructure and applications for performance and scalability. Conduct performance testing, tuning, and capacity planning exercises.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software developers, DevOps engineers, architects, and business stakeholders to understand requirements, provide guidance, and deliver solutions.
  • Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Support in Documenting cloud infrastructure designs, configurations, and processes. Share knowledge and best practices with team members through documentation and hands-on collaboration.
  • Stay Current with Cloud Technologies: Stay up-to-date with the latest cloud technologies, trends, and best practices. Continuously learn and acquire new skills through training, certifications, and self-study.

Successful Candidate

Your skills:

  •  A Degree in Information Technology (IT), Engineering, Technical Sciences is required
  • Working experience with Cloud infrastructure and pipeline deployment
  • Knowledge of Linux/Unix Operating System environment, and scripting
  • Knowledge of code versioning and CI/CD tools (Git, GitLab, etc..)
  • Working experience in containers orchestration (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Rancher)
  • Knowledge of Agile and DevOps practices
  • English Level B2 (Upper-Intermediate), written and spoken
  • Capability of integration in an international/multicultural environment, rapid self-starting capability and experience in team working are mandatory
  • Capacity of achieving schedule and milestones
  • Capacity of working under pressure
  • At least 2 year of proven experience in the field of system/infrastructure administration or having participated to specific master/training on the relevant field

Desirables:

  • Knowledge of programming languages (e.g. Python, etc.)
  • Knowledge of the Elastic Stack
  • Capability of writing technical documentation (e.g., Procedures, Technical Notes, Interface Control Document, System Design Document)
  • Knowledge of Ticketing Management (e.g. JIRA)
  • Critical thinking and self-organization skills

Rome's central location in Italy offers excellent transportation links within the city and across the country. The city is well-connected by a network of highways and railways, with Ciampino Airport or Fiumicino, providing convenient access to international destinations.
