We currently have an exciting opportunity within the European Commission in Brussels for an Application Developer.

Role Responsibility

  • Development and maintenance of existing software applications
  • Development and integration of technological components and building blocks;
  • Integration with other different IT systems;
  • Prototyping;
  • Produce and maintain up-to-date the software technical documentation
  • Elaboration of tests
  • Provide assistance with the deployment and configuration of the system
  • Participation in technical working groups, progress meetings and other team meetings;
  • Collaboration and communication with teams of external applications – DECIDE, Ares, SFC BO, SFC FO, etc.
  • Follow-up development of change requests and defects fixing and if necessary perform.

Successful Candidate

Knowledge and expertise required

  • Good knowledge of Object Oriented Programming, Java and Microservices design patterns;
  • Good knowledge of application design and modelling tools;
  • Good knowledge of SQL, especially Oracle RDBMS and tools;
  • Knowledge of interoperability technology (e.g. web services, message oriented middleware, service oriented bus);
  • Good knowledge and experience of component based development, deployments in Java/J2EE environments;
  • Good knowledge of Maven, Angular, RESTfull Web APIs, JBOSS Drools (Business rules);
  • Ability to cope with fast changing technologies;
  • Knowledge of regulations pertaining to ESIF Family as well as their specific IT portfolio of applications it is a definite asset;
  • Ability to participate in multi-lingual meetings, good communication skills; strong motivation, efficiency;
  • Capability of integration in an international/multi-cultural environment, rapid selfstarting capability and experience in working in team.

Specific expertise required

Considering the specific stage of the Workflow systems and the set of technologies used in their development, 4 years of cumulative specific expertise are required, as follows:

  • Minimum 4 years knowledge and experience of component based development, deployments in Java/J2EE environments;
  • Minimum 4 years experience in development with JSF;
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in Object Oriented Design and Development; Framework Contract DIGIT-TM Page 3 of 3
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in SQL, especially Oracle RDBMS and tools;
  • Minimum 4 years of experience with REST services;
  • Minimum 2 years of development of Springboot applications;
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with Elastic Search & Kibana;
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with Docker;
  • Minimum 2 years of experience using Jira and Confluence
