DESCRIPTION OF TASKS
The Candidate will be expected to contribute to all the tasks listed below:
Analysis of format and content of ad hoc open data sets related to demography, mobility and migration at different spatial and temporal scales. This implies the study of ways to collect the data such as though dedicated services/APIs, ftp or generic web repositories. This is followed by the analysis of the data format that could be CSV, tables, PDF, HTML, XML, JSON etc. This activity may entail the automatic conversion of source files into usable formats.
Once collected, it is necessary to understand the structure of the data and the represented information. If necessary the data may need to be manipulated in order to make different collections coherent and adapt the data types and information.
The data are eventually loaded into structured or unstructured database for migration. In case of unstructured data, this activity also includes the definition of the relevant metadata to characterise the associated tables/collections.
