We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Application Architect, based in Brussels.

Role Responsibility

NATURE OF TASKS

• Architecture and design of new information systems.
• Review of the architecture of existing systems
• Design of component architecture and building blocks
• Analysis of the integration of different information systems
• Development and maintenance of software applications and components
• Data analysis and data modelling.
• Coordination of the implementation of the technical architecture
• Technical interface between the project leaders and the analysts.
• Production of software architecture documents
• Participation in technical working groups, progress meetings and meetings with the users
• Assistance in the testing, the technical documentation, the deployment, the evaluation and the reporting

Successful Candidate

REQUIRED EXPERTISE

• Good knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture
• Knowledge of interoperability technology (e.g. web services, message oriented middleware,
• service oriented bus)
• Proven experience with web services (SOAP and REST)
• Good knowledge of applications design
• Good knowledge of modelling tools
• Good knowledge of Object Oriented Programming languages
• Good knowledge of Enterprise Architecture
• Good knowledge of Relational Database Management Systems
• In-depth knowledge and proven experience with Oracle SQL
• In-depth knowledge and proven experience with Java EE technologies
• In-depth knowledge and proven experience with the Spring Framework
• In-depth knowledge and proven experience with the Hibernate Framework
• Proven experience with XML and XSD
• Good knowledge of front end frameworks and libraries
• Proven experience in Agile development methodologies (such as SCRUM, Kanban)
• Ability to cope with fast changing technologies used in application architecture and design
• Ability to participate in multi-lingual meetings, good communication skills.
• Capability of integration in an international/multi-cultural environment, rapid self-starting
• capability and experience in team working.
• Fluent in English

ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND EXPERTISE
The following knowledge and skills are considered advantages:

• Good knowledge of deployment and continuous integration tools (e.g. Maven, Bamboo,
• Fisheye, Crucible, JUnit)
• Familiarity with JIRA and Confluence
• Good knowledge of Unified Modelling Language
• Familiarity with Commission methodologies and supporting tools such as PM², BPM@EC and Agile@EC
• Ability to provide support to end users
• Good redaction skills
• Ability to combine several tasks
