We are hiring a Application Architect for our prestigious partner DIGIT TM (DG Informatics) in Brussels. DIGIT-TM is a contract from the European Commission for IT services across Europe.

Role Responsibility

Nature of the tasks of linked to the service:
 Develop business applications in a team of motivated professionals, using modern
technologies such as the springMVC and the Java/Oracle stack;
 Design and develop software including the integration with external (corporate) applications;
 Collaborate to continuously improve the functioning of the developed products;
 Automate software integration and delivery;
 Prepare documentation for other programmers, users and support personnel.
 Assistance during relevant parts of testing, analysis, technical documentation, deployment,
evaluation and reporting
 Participate in technical working groups and project related meetings

The information necessary for the completion of these tasks and their deadlines will be
given on a regular basis to the IT consultants delivering the service via the project
management tool and during coordination meetings.

Successful Candidate

Required Skills

The candidate should have an in-depth knowledge and skills in following domains:
 Strong knowledge of Java platform product family; The candidate must have proven
experience in analysing and writing modular JAVA applications and creating REST web
services for database centric applications;
 Strong knowledge of modern front end, web development technologies. Including Angular,
Typescript, HTML 5, CSS, Ajax, the DOM, JavaScript and JS libraries;
 Good knowledge of Object Oriented design, including design patterns;
 Experience with integration technologies such as REST, SOAP and/or JMS
 Spring 4 framework (Spring MVC, Spring Security, Spring Batch, etc.)
 Experience in (micro) service-oriented architecture, enterprise integration patterns and their
implementation
 Knowledge of WebServices, JMS, Events
 Knowledge of application servers such as Weblogic
 Strong analysis and methodical problem solving abilities to create logical and innovating
solutions to complex problems;
 DevOps: Building software (preferably with Maven and continuous integration (preferably
with Jenkins)
The candidate providing the service is expected to be attentive to code quality and performance, using best practices in application design and code review. S/he must be
fluent in English and should be able to write documents in English.

Optional Skills
Following expertise is considered as an asset. The candidate providing the service is expected to have at least 3 out of these optional skills:
 Experience in large scale enterprise applications;
 Knowledge of EC ICT systems and infrastructure.
 Good knowledge of automated testing (unit tests, test mocks, integration tests, …);
 Knowledge of both SQL (Oracle)
