We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Application Architect, based in Brussels.

Role Responsibility

The key person will be responsible for:

•  Maintenance and bug fixing  

•  Urgent support and data changes  

•  Implementation of small change requests  

•  Maintaining and updating of the architecture and design of the systems.  

•  Synchronise and align the systems with the Commission digital strategy and with  the guidelines and recommendations of the central IT department.  

•  Analysis of the integration of different information systems.  

•  Data analysis and data modelling.  

•  Updating and maintaining the technical documentation of the systems 

•  Perform the technical analysis of the extension and updates of the systems   Coordinate the implementation of the technical architecture.  

•  Be the technical interface between the project leaders, business analysts and the  developers.  

•  Production of software architecture documents.  

•  Participation in technical working groups, progress meetings and meetings with  the users.  

Successful Candidate

The key person should have:

•  In depth knowledge of data modelling for SQL and NOSQL databases.  

•  In-depth knowledge of REST principles and frameworks like Spring Data REST  and Jersey.  

•  In-depth experience working with Spring Security, OAUTH2, JSON Web tokens  (JWT) or identity management products like KeyCloack would be desirable.  

•  In depth knowledge of integration testing with Spring with MockMVC Test and  JsonPath.  

•  Basic knowledge of performance testing tools, like Apache JMeter, or Gatling.io  would be desirable.  

•  Basic knowledge of the ELK stack.  

•  In depth knowledge of modern JavaScript, npm, Node.js, JQuery and Angular.   In depth knowledge of Agile principles.  

•  In depth knowledge of SVN and GIT.  

•  Experience working with the Atlassian Suite, JIRA Confluence Bitbucket and  Bamboo.  

•  Ability to code proof of concepts (Including client side) based on use cases.  

•  Ability to debug and fix complex issues in client and server sides of a web  application.  

•  Ability to visualize complex issues.  

•  Analytic and creative problem solving. 

•  Good redaction skills.  

•  Ability to give technical presentations.  

•  Ability to apply high quality standards.  

•  Ability to cope with fast changing technologies used in application architecture  and design.  

•  Ability to participate in multi-lingual meetings, good communication skills.  

•  Capability of integration in an international/multi-cultural environment, rapid  self-starting capability and experience in working in team.
