We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Application Architect, based in Brussels.

 

Role Responsibility

The key person will be responsible for:

  • Architecture and design of new information systems 

  • Review architecture of existing systems and propose technical enhancements 

  • Technical coordination of the implementation of the technical architecture 

  • Analysis of the integration of different information systems 

  • Design and develop architecture components and building blocks 

  • Development of Java applications 

  • Development of Web Services 

  • Front-end development (Angular, ExtJS, Javascript) 

  • Participation in technical working groups, progress meetings and meetings with the users 

  • Provide technical guidance for other developers in the team 

  • Be involved in the decision process for architecture changes 

  • Coordinate and align with the corporate architecture 

Successful Candidate

The key person should have:

  • Exposure to complex projects that implied various integrations and data exchange between systems 

  • Able to take informed and reasonable architectural decisions required for project implementation 

  • Exposure to various message broker platforms (Kafka desired but not mandatory) 

  • Profound knowledge of Java 8, J2EE and related frameworks 

  • Profound knowledge of Front-End related frameworks (Angular, ExtJS, Javascript) 

  • In depth knowledge of enterprise architecture 

  • In depth knowledge of software design and modelling, including modelling tools 

  • Knowledge of interoperability technology (e.g. web services, message oriented middleware, service oriented bus) 

  • Experience with Databases: JPA, Hibernate, Oracle, and related technologies 

  • Experience with frameworks: Spring (MVC, Data, Security, ...) 

  • Experience with software engineering methodologies: RUP, Agile and also knowledge in project management methodologies 

  • Other necessary paradigms and technologies around software continuous integration, build tools, infrastructure layers, etc... 

  • Ability to cope with fast changing technologies used in application architecture and design 

  • Ability to participate in multi-lingual meetings 

  • Very good communication skills – the candidate would need to be involved in various discussions with both business and technical participants 

  • Ability to work autonomously
