We are looking for a Technology Expert with  a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience for one of the Directorate-General (DG) of the European Commission in Brussels. 

Project: Sygma and Compass are the projects to build a System for Grant Management for the whole Research Family in order to support the operations of the Horizon 2020 framework program, along with extension to new programs, with the purpose to become the corporate Commission e-Grants solution.

Role Responsibility

Technology Expert responsibilities:

• You will provide advice & assistance in any area associated with the procurement, provision, delivery, maintenance, deployment, hosting, effective use of information systems and their environments.
• You will provide quality plans, SLA's, quality control and evaluation, QA's or other quality matters associated with information systems projects.
• You will manage quality tests.
• You will assist in the design, the development, the tests and the writing of the documentation.
• You will assist and support information system developers
• You will provide security studies, security assessments or other security matters associated with information system projects.
• You will proceed to functional requirements and business case analysis.
• You will perform risk analysis.
• You will provide technical studies, technical expertise, technical evaluations in relation with information systems.

Depending on the circumstances, the expert may be requested to provide assistance or support in the resolution of production issues. 

Successful Candidate

Knowledge and skills

• In depth knowledge of information systems matters.
• In depth knowledge in IT advisory matters.
• Working experience of JAVA (JEE) technology.
• Knowledge of enterprise & web content management.
• Working experience of software development methodologies (e.g. RUP). 
• Good knowledge in relational databases management.
• Good knowledge of UML Modelling language.

• Capacity in preparing and writing studies.
• Ability to apply high quality standards. 
• Ability to participate in multi-lingual meetings, excellent communicator. 
• Capability of working in an international/ multicultural environment. 

Education and experience

• University degree or Training in IT Institute minimum of 5 years
• Work experience of 5 minimum years.
