To reinforce our team in Brussels we are currently looking for a System Administrator with at least 8 years experience in the field.

Role Responsibility

Key purpose:

System Administrator in order to manage the system and network components on which FIDES, DEH and FLUX systems are deployed. This includes the hardware, operating system, infrastructure and middleware components. 

The person should also be able to manage the incidents and problems related to local information system components and coordinate all actions with the different involved services.

Other responsibilities and tasks:

  • System Administration;
  • Deploy, configure and operate local information system related servers and components;
  • Coordinate with DG MARE LSA team for managing the hardware and  OS on which local information systems function;
  • Analysis and management of technical incidents related to FIDES; FLUX and DEH modules and coordination of actions with DG MARE LSA and DIGIT;
  • Creation and update of operational documentation related to FIDES, FLUX and DEH systems and components;
  • Management and updating of local information systems monitoring tools and periodic reporting on system and modules availability, performance and usage;
  • Assist on the deployment and configuration and maintenance of hardware, systems and applications that require interaction with FIDES, FLUX and DEH;
  • User account management of the local information systems under the supervision of the FIDES Project manager;
  • Assist DG MARE LSA team on general system administration activities;
  • Management of Certificate Authority;
  • Deploy, configure and manage FIDES Certificate Authority;
  • Reception and management of certificates requests under the supervision of DG MARE LISO and FIDES Project Manager;
  • Analysis and management of technical incidents related to FIDES certificates and coordination of actions with DG MARE LISO and DIGIT;
  • Assist on the deployment of new and external certificates or recognition of other certification authorities under the supervision of DG MARE LISO;
  • FIDES INFO Management (Service desk);
  • Handling of technical messages and dispatching of business or nonFIDES issues;
  • Follow-up and closing of the incidents; informing and confirming with the end-users;
  • Periodic reporting on Service desk activities.

Successful Candidate

Essential Technical and Professional skills:

  • Windows Operating System;
  • SSL & Security protocols;
  • Web Servers (Apache, IPlanet);
  • Communication and network software and protocols;
  • Machine Virtualisation;
  • Web Application Servers (Tomcat, Web Logic);
  • Oracle databases and tools, MySQL, PHP;
  • The essential knowledge items for the function are in bold. This person should have the ability to master gradually (in about 3 months) all the non essential items quoted above.

Other desirable skills:

  • Experience of Software Distribution and Asset Management systems;
  • Experience of software development in high-level programming languages;
  • Proven experience in SharePoint management or/and programming; Certification of ITIL for service delivery and service support Technical presentation skills;
  • Microsoft Certified Solution Developer status, MCSE (or equivalent).
