Local System Administrator

For our customer, a European Institution in Brussels, we are currently looking for a Local System Administrator.

Role Responsibility

  • Administration of systems or applications with local impact;
  • Installation and configuration of system components and server software. Integration of servers in the local environment;
  • Monitoring of servers;
  • Incident analysis and resolution, problem definition, analysis and resolution: preliminary diagnosis of software and hardware problems, co-ordination with other IT departments and with 3rd party maintenance contractors ;
  • Advising in areas such as capacity management, contingency planning, IT service continuity management, automation of repetitive tasks, security;
  • Maintenance of the server procedures manual and disaster recovery plans related to managed systems and applications;
  • User administration and user right management in a Windows environment;
  • Monitoring and administration of local “print and file” servers.
  • Handling of backups and restore operations(user data and configuration data);
  • Monitoring and administration of network resources like shared printers network drives, etc.

Successful Candidate

  • At least 3 years of relevant professional experience;
  • University or college degree in a computer science and/or technology program (or equivalent work experience);
  • Very good knowledge of Windows Server;
  • Sound knowledge of different versions of Microsoft Windows operating system;
  • Very good knowledge of all the MS Office applications (Outlook, Office, Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Advanced IT product knowledge and experience (Hardware/Software);
  • Highly autonomous and IT skilled in IT management tools;
  • Previous experience with ticketing systems;
  • Analytical and problem solving skills along with a strong focus on customer satisfaction;
  • Familiarity with ITIL methodology; ITIL Certification is a strong plus.

Language and communication skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in French and English.
