Laboratory Test Engineer (20h/week)

Role Responsibility

For our activities in ESTEC, we are currently looking for a Laboratory Test Engineer.

The position is offered as a part-time position (20 hours per week).

The Key Person will be working as part of the European Space Power Laboratory (ESPL). This laboratory currently covers 4 facilities:

• Accelerated Life Test Facility;
• High Voltage Facility;
• Battery and Life Test Facility;
• Power Conversion Facility;
• Solar Generator Characterization Facility.

The successful applicant will be one of a team of 5 personnel working alongside a team of scientific staff performing investigations and experiments.
The successful candidate will focus his/her activity on the following tasks:

• Design, bread boarding and build of electronic circuitry;
• Setting up and undertaking controlled experiments;
• Recording and presenting data for analysis;
• Preparation and instrumentation of test samples;
• Maintaining equipment;
• Writing reports and summaries;
• Following and ensuring strict safety procedures.

Successful Candidate

The ideal candidate should have broad and in depth experience and knowledge of laboratory testing environments (at least 4 years of experience in a similar position required).

Additionally, the Key Person should bring:

• Meticulous attention to detail;
• Excellent written & oral skills;
• Good team working skills;
• Troubleshooting & analytical skills.

Preferred: 

• Degree level education in a scientific/ electronics related discipline;
• Software engineering skills (LabView, C+).
