Emergency Response Coordination Centre (ERCC):
The Emergency Response Coordination Centre is required to be accessible and able to react immediately 24 hours a day to serve the Member States and the Commission for the purposes of Humanitarian Aid and the Civil Protection Mechanism.

Role Responsibility

For our client, the European Commission, we are seeking a 1st Line Support Agent (Audiovisual Conferencing) to support our team in Brussels.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensure daily technical support  for video/teleconferences,
  • Coordination of meetings and other events involving the use of EC equipment
  • Ensure daily processing and planning of requests for technical support from customer meeting rooms
  • Conduct connectivity tests and calls programming
  • Perform regular equipment checks and first line diagnose in case of malfunction / failure
  • Act as focal point in relation with:
    • The service provider for EC technical service and maintenance.
    • DIGIT for issues concerning EC (generic accounts, outlook, printers, mission phones, laptops, consumables, etc.)
    • Service providers for EC mission IT equipment
  • Ensure the necessary follow up in case of equipment failure and / or replacements
  • Provide training on the use of EC equipment
  • Ensure maintenance and readiness for deployment of EC mission equipment (telecommunications, IT, software)
  • Support the deployment of EU civil protection teams

 

Successful Candidate

Knowledge and skills:

  • Proven knowledge of Audiovisual Conferencing
  • Proven knowledge in end user assistance or support of information systems
  • Excellent communication / writing skills.
  • Capability of integration in an international/multicultural environment, rapid self-starting capability and experience in team working.
  • Ability to participate in multi-lingual meetings
  • Able to use the office automation tools used in the Commission (MS-Office)

Education & experience:

  • Minimum 7 years of relevant studies and experience after secondary school
  • Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in a similar role

Language skills:

  • Very good knowledge of English, spoken and written (French an extra asset).

Optional specifications:

  • Professional experience of crisis management, the military, paramedics, security services, United Nations, Red Cross or non-governmental humanitarian organisations, civil protection entities including fire services.
  • Working in a foreign-language environment.
  • Working in a foreign country, not speaking your mother tongue as a main operating language.
  • Team player with appropriate social and communication skills.
  • Experience in technical studies to support the development of IT-based early warning and monitoring tools for natural disasters, including a technical analysis and evaluation on the current events retrieved by the systems, requiring a good understanding of natural disasters events.
